The Kingdom at Hand
When the John the Baptist was preaching in the wilderness of Judea, he told, no, he shouted “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
To repent is to have a change of mind. But it also means I change my attitude and my actions. That happens when the change of mind impacts me to the point that I change my heart. So, when my heart changes it affects everything I do and choose. I really do have a choice in how I am going to live and my attitude in this relationship with Jesus.
“The kingdom of heaven is at hand” literally means that now God is approachable by all who call Him Lord. He is here with us and now it is personal. But you’ve got to know…Jesus proclaims the message of repentance, just like John. He accepts me by His grace, but he expects me to remove anything from my life that would prevent us from a close, personable relationship.
You don’t have to change your life to come to Jesus, but you do have to change your life to continue with Jesus.
